It always disturbs me a little bit that Stephen is lying in the sick berth possibly dying, and Jack is just sitting in the cabin staring at Stephen's cello. What's the cello doing OUT anyway? Stephen was wandering around on deck when he got shot, so either he left his cello propped up in the cabin unattended or else Jack has gotten it out to stare at while Stephen was incapacitated. Maybe Jack was trying to play it. "I miss Stephen. What will happen to our duets if he dies??? Maybe I can play BOTH instruments."

Then again, they were in the doldrums, so I suppose it wouldn't have been unreasonable to leave the cello propped up like that. No expectation that a sudden rolling wave would tip it over, really.
