mini cellos and violins

Say, esteven, did your bears ever get their cello and violin, respectively?  I've been looking on ebay at dollhouse sized ones...  Did you see the amazing $400 violin for a dollhouse that I linked to last week?  It's incredible.  I certainly couldn't make such an exquisite tiny violin for $400.  (Though the bow is kind of funny looking.  But many of the miniature bows are, I'm finding.)  But they're all so CUTE!  I can't wait to get my own and hold them in my hands.  I've always had a funny kind of enamored-ness (is there a noun in there somewhere?) with musical instruments as physical objects, especially the stringed ones.  I have a similar enamored-ness with toe shoes as objects.  And opera singers' throats as objects.  (Just kidding about that one.  Yeah...)  Anyway, I think I might get this cello off of ebay.

You know, I think it's actually my poppets who are whispering these things to me, about making these roomboxes and buying musical instruments and the like!!!  Here I was thinking all along, "No, nobody's going to inhabit these little spaces.  That just wouldn't be quite right.  I'll just furnish and decorate them as if the people have just stepped out for a moment."  But I think my poppets are planning to sneak in there at night and live it up, dissecting little fish or eating weevil-infested hard tack - and now they want MUSIC too!  How did I never suspect this before???

And if that's the case, then who's been whispering to me to buy miniature silver...?  *looks around uneasily for a poppet Killick*  And what are Sophie and Diana poppets going to demand?

I remember seeing bear!Jack's fiddle - but I remember she was having a hard time finding a cello that was bigger than the fiddle but not so big that it would overwhelm bear!Stephen.

Well Diana would want some jewellery I'm sure and perhaps two or three horses that she can run at Ascot.

Perhaps Sophie will ask for a male version of a chastity belt to keep Jack on the straight and narrow. *g* Is there such a thing do you think for men? I can't imagine any male inventing one.

True, I can't imagine a man inventing one either - but I think I've seen something like that in my search for visuals of antique medical instruments and illustrations! I remember seeing something that looked and sounded quite horrible. *shudder* And I'm usually very unsqueamish.

But anyway... with the poppets, there's nothing for Sophie to worry about.

Yeah, it's weird that the violin is so awesome but it's bow is weird. It's bow is rather BOWED. Aiee, my hands are just itching to hold a mini cello.

Those little stringed instruments are amazing!

There's an exhibit here at the National Maritime Museum you *have* to see - it's a model of the Endeavour with little bitty *everythings*! They have Cook, Banks, the entire crew, and all their supplies, in miniature. I saw it and instantly thought of you.

It's the NMM here in Greenwich - and you must find a way to get here! There's conservation talks at the British Library, and you would love those, too, besides all the wonderful, historic texts on display. But I'll see if I can get a picture of the bitty!Endeavour - Banks and Cook are in the Great Cabin together - it's so sweet!

Actually, I've been looking for great big diamonds CONSTANTLY for Diana, but I haven't found anything quite suitable yet. I would be curious to find out what company makes these musical instruments.
I have some very similiar to those(although I certainly didn't pay that much for them)but I can't find a company name as to who made them.
I'm also curious to see if it's a collection and if there are any other pieces.

I think there are lots of different makers, because I've seen many different kinds on ebay. And yes, there are many more instruments too!

It never crossed my mind to check out ebay but it would be a good way to find out what other pieces there are. The ones I have are bigger in size about $30-$40.00 a piece although I have seen smaller ones. Some of the ones I have also have their own box or carrying case.
