I had quite the crush on musical!Enjolras, then read the book, and that clinched it. I still regularly re-read the novel; it's a work of art. I visited Paris about 15 years ago, beautiful city (I could live in the Louvre). But it pre-dated my introduction to Les Mis by several years, so no fannish tour for me.
I'll have to try the sample stains when I start on my next box. I guess I'm just chicken about the fumes. I'm not entirely pleased with my latest box, so no pics of that, but maybe I'll put up pics of my others sometime. I did make myself a game board (http://ldhenson.livejournal.com/152936.html) and set of tangrams (http://ldhenson.livejournal.com/153755.html) recently. I may well stain the game box, come to think of it...
As for decoupage, I use Mod Podge Matte and Delta Ceramcoat Int/Ext Gloss mostly. I absolutely love the latter--it dries hard, fast, glossy and sandable. It's also an excellent glue, but on the expensive side, so I mostly save it for topcoats.
I really like the antiquing around the hardware on the mini desk.
