I've just been informed by a friendly visitor Josje that my Aubrey-Maturin miniatures are featured on her blog, Josje's Poppenhuis!!!  Her blog is so beautiful and full of such wonderful pictures that I feel humbled to be mentioned there so kindly!

Dank u zeer, Josje!

PS - I love the word Poppenhuis.

Last night I dreamed about dollhouses, which is rather unusual.  I dreamed I was trying to finish the construction of an attic room with impossible angles and mitering and bits of molding that wouldn't quite fit, and pieces that kept falling off before the glue was dry, and argh!  It was so realistic.

(Which is to say - yours look GREAT!!!)

Well, right *now*, all the clothes are store-bought. ;-) But I'm going to have to start sewing soon because Ianto needs shirts and ties.

Where do you get your Re-ment things?

eBay is where it's all happing these days - You can get everything that's available there. The only trick is to always search the stores/buy now stuff and find the couple of sellers that don't charge a fortune for shipping - Many of them are in China and you pay quite a bit for shipping. There are only a couple of US sellers so sometimes it pays to be patient and wait for a certain set you want to come in through their store.

And for your needs, I would also search for "1/6" in the "Toys and Games/Action Figures" category... Besides Re-Ment (aimed at Barbie,) there is a *huge* military action figure industry (aimed at the GI Joe'ers) and there is a lot of cooking gear and weapons and so forth available.

Keep in mind that all the 1/6 stuff is *plastic* - It looks impressive and is rugged for playing but it's not nearly the quality that you've probably been dealing with.

Were your dolls sold as those actual characters?

Oh, gosh no... I pieced together the outfits from single items and Blond!Ianto is actually a Dragon action figure ("Jamie", US 101st - M249 SAW Gunner.) Jack is a Christian Bale head from some unknown Dark Night action figure - I repainted his hair and eyes. I *meant* to repaint Ianto like THIS (http://pics.livejournal.com/agentxpndble/pic/00277px8) Photoshop mock-up, but haven't had the heart for it - I've fallen in love with Blond!Ianto and I did such a bad job of Jack, I keep hoping we will find a custom sculpt head before I am forced to.

I wasn't able to find the people making custom heads (am still looking around at the few leads I've gotten) so I just looked for the closest thing I could find that was already manufactured. If you are trying to match a current celebrity for a project, there is this *awesome* resource site HERE (http://www.famousfigures.com/celebs/celeb_main.html) which guides you to the closest match out there at the moment. The Torchwood team aren't on the list but it was an enormous help in guiding me through the sea of current manufactured figures.
