I have roomboxes!

(LJ is being really slow and weird! Here's the second try at this post...)
I picked up my roombox(es) yesterday! They were custom built to my specifications, yay. It's one unit with two rooms, one above for the captain's cabin, and one below for the surgeon's dispensary/sick bay. The back panel for the captain's cabin isn't attached, so I can adapt it and add windows later (when I figure out how exactly I want to do that.)
I haven't even started doing anything to them. I think I'm going to stain the outside, so it will look like an apothecary chest, and put a brass handle on top for carrying. But I'm so excited and ADD about it that I'm paralyzed with the inability to start!!!
Here are pictures. The Plexi covering-film hasn't been peeled off yet. I'll wait till after painting and all.

Any time I put something on the floor, the cats get curious. This one is Gianni.

Nemo investigates. "Can I get in there?"

The poppets also investigate. I never planned for this to be a space for them to live in, but who knows? They are about the right size, after all, especially when fixed to their little stands. I just wanted to see how the room would look with someone "life sized" in it. I think it looks duly claustrophobic. :D

Date: 2007-10-13 07:31 pm (UTC)My cat Gianni has two favorite things to do with new objects - sit on them if they're flat, or knock them over if they're tall. If I drop a piece of mail on the floor, he'll sit on it. Likewise, anything that's NOT on the floor belongs there, so he'll knock it off whatever table or furniture it's sitting on.

Phoebe just tends to sit on it or in it. If it's flat or tall, she'll sit on it (even if it means jumping), or in it if it's a box. She recently tried to wriggle into the 6"x8"x10" cardboard box we keep the computer wires in, until she got stuck halfway and decided to give up.
