Some miniatures.

I decided to re-cover the seat cushions in leather. One of my book conservator colleagues gave me some leather she had pared too thin - paper thin. Too thin for her, but perfect for me!

And randomly - some aardvarks.

Aren't they sweet?

They live on top of my monitor at the moment. I intended to put them on the Christmas tree, but that hasn't happened yet.

And here's the evolution of Jack's stern locker.
A piece of wood, painted and stained, with some matboard scraps glued on for the center thingy.

Add some wooden molding and some panels cut from card stock.

Finished.

Optional leather cushions.

It looks magnificent with the windows and the checkered floor, and Jack's desk and little table. But you can't see all that yet!

Date: 2007-12-04 12:17 pm (UTC)The second to last photo really shows off the locker in all its glory. I love seeing how you roomboxes have evolved. I can't wait to see them finished!

Date: 2007-12-04 02:45 pm (UTC)That was really clever, the way you built up the locker from a plain piece of wood! Love the cardstock mouldings: never in a million years would I have thought of that!
And aardvarks are always WIN. :-)

Date: 2007-12-05 12:09 am (UTC)The paper-thin leather was nice to work with on this tiny scale. It would have been a nightmare for anything much bigger, though. Even the stern locker cushions would have been too big, I think. I used different leather for them.

Date: 2007-12-05 12:10 am (UTC)Yes you should. YOU SHOULD! Then we could be doing things at the same time and comparing notes and such! Or saying "Oooh, I found this great website that supplies all sorts of XYZ stuff!"
